Title: What tool is needed to unscrew hand rest from Origin
Post by: hermitnerd on December 07, 2012, 05:02:06 pm

I feel a bit stupid asking this, but what friggin tool do you use to remove the hand rest? Apparently none of my tools, including a euro/metric set and a US set of Allen / Hex keys, have the correct fit for the screws that attach the hand rest to the Origin (which are the same as the screws used on the rest of the Origin). I'm trying to put it in a rack...

Hi RC,
thanks for your reply. I took my Origin to a hardware store and a guy finally found the right tool for me ("Torx", see attached pictures). Maybe older Origins used the Phillips screws to fasten the hand rest (I tried all of my Phillips-style screwdrivers like the one in your picture, and also tried all possible US and Euro sizes of Allen/Hex wrenches). Or maybe someone at the factory just got lazy or ran out of Phillips screws and just used the same Torx screws for the hand rest as for the rest of the Origin case.

Thx
Paul

Well here it is, the lazy man's table-top Origin rack. It's not pretty like the Courtel model but it does the job.  ;D Easy to carry!

Just curious,

Have you both Origin desktop and also Keyboard (I remember you weighted your keyboard...)? Or have you traded you keyboard to desktop? I ask this because, while I am still waiting for my desktop back from repair service, I am thinking about purchasing also Keyboard. I do so many gigs per year and Origin has became my main tool, so basically I cannot tolerate anymore two months periods without it. Having two units would make this setup much more safe for setbacks. In my idea I might have Keyboard at home and desktop on the road. Of course this needs lot of money and lot of gigs to make this possible. Is it worth to have them both? Any ideas from anyone?

It seems that the Origin has been sent back to Tomeso the 2012/12/05.

I have bought it from THOMANN and as far as I know they haven't got it there yet... Can you please check that it's going to right place.

Already go to  tomeso and after Thoman; Tomeso is the distributor of Arturia in Deutschland I believe, so no stress you got it at end of the week.

Hi, I have both a keyboard and a desktop Origin. The ribbon on the keyboard is quite a masterpiece, I would have a very hard time getting rid of that. Got them both by selling most of my vintage synths...no regrets  :)
