Title: Mono Legato?
Post by: MikeAsh on January 22, 2013, 11:40:32 am
Would there be any chance of adding proper mono legato so that portamento only comes into effect when holding two notes? Would be good for some funky acid lines which I think the Minibrute would excel at!  :)

+1 from here. I'm missing this feature that I'm used to from my JP8000.

A little bit unrelated note, but I think it should be considered somehow having some internal way to change the hidden features, so that things like legato and all could be changed without having to connect to a computer.

Two example possibilities I can think of are how the sub phatty and the Alesis q25 controller are set up.
I've seen in a video that the sub phatty uses some combinations of the bank select buttons to change hidden parameters, including a key that has a list of all the combinations of lights and buttons and their meanings.  The q25 controller has a Select button that when pressed gives each key a function; e.g. pressing Select then a certain labeled key enables you to press some of 9 other keys to enter the digits of the MIDI channel.

Maybe a sort of combo of both those methods.  Perhaps pressing both octave buttons at once, or an octave button + tap tempo, could be like the Select button, and the octave indicator lights could signal current settings and when it is in hidden setting edit mode.  I wouldn't mind having to look off a cheat sheet to do this, it's easier than having to connect to a computer, and surely you'd get used to all the combos after a bit.

Well this is an hardware issue, this requires a modification of the portamento circuit. Bruno will confirm that.

Ah, didn't know it was an analog portamento.

nevermind then...

Hi,
I just got myself a minibrute and I love the sound of it!
An autoglide function would be a very nice addittion though.

The portamento cirquit on the brute being analog would not have to be an objection for implementing an autoglide feature if that new feature would be separate from the normal glide contrl knob.
If this funtion was to be implemented in the (digital) midi-cv converter it would be rather easy to make it slide the cv output when overlapping notes are played.

For choosing the glide time the tap button could be used together with the octave buttons.
This way you could choose from 5 settings, eg: off / 1/32 / 1/16 /1/8 / 1/4.

Just my ten cents :)
