Title: the young pretender...
Post by: sihaz on May 08, 2013, 02:43:50 pm
here's a pic of my minibrute surrounded by some more illustrious old timers during a rehearsal for will gregory's "Mg orchestra", which obviously isn't ALL Mgs :-) been driving it with my ewi some of the time. works fantastically!

hi tony,

not got any vids i'm afraid, hands are a bit busy when we're playing - lots of knob twiddling :-) got a gig tomorrow in london. wish me luck!

you can't see everything in the pic but there are miniMgs, prodigys, taurus pedals, polyvox, junos, sh101's, a really weird korg thing, and i was previously on an sh09, but wanted something i could trigger from my ewi so minibrute all the way. was really easy to recreate the sh09 sounds on the brute - just have to leave the bells and whistles switched off and it's pretty close. also lovely to have aftertouch vib to play with, makes the lead solos much more fun :-)

cheers,

si

I'll check the vid out when I get home.  Thanks for sharing.

Just food for thought, I used to use a Roland PK-5 midi bass pedal to trigger samples (loops-one shots) as well as drones via my old Alesis QS_R.

You may be able to use a couple of Mini-brutes by hand while triggering another with a PK-5, perhaps an arpeggiated base line or who knows what else.

I've always found the PK5 (now they have a PK6) to be a very powerful tool.

OK, so time for an update. The gig went really well, despite two miniMgs going down during the rehearsal. Luckily we had spares available. Minibrute behaved itself impecably! Best news was Jean Michel Jarre was in the audience and I got to say hi after the show. One excellent evening :-)
