Title: NI Pro-53 patches for use in Prophet V?
Post by: timmybass on June 13, 2006, 03:20:04 pm
Do the Native Instruments Pro-53 patches work with the Arturia Prophet V? If not, does anyone know if there is a way to export the patches to work with the Prophet V?

thanks---->

I just received notice from Arturia that NI Pro-53 patches do not import into Arturia Prophet V.

Bummed.

In order for this to happen, NI has to open up their patch format. Truthfully, NI has nothing to gain by allowing interoperability between their app and Arturia's, so I doubt they will be forthcoming with that information.

The patches wouldn't be compatible anyway since Arturia Prophet V differs from NI's Pro-53 in design, for instance the filter envelope is switchable "Inv" on NI's Pro-53, the filter is also switchable to Highpass.

Just thought that I'd point this out.

It is NOT possible to load Pro-53 patches into the Prophet V - and no; there is no way to convert between the two.
There are - in my humble opinion - no similarities (except for the name) between the two products. I own them both and use them for different things. The Prophet V actually sounds like a Prophet 5. The Pro-53 sounds like ... well ... a cool sounding VSTi, but NOT a Prophet 5 - This is ofcourse my own opinion :-)

Native Instruments Pro-53 is my favourite VST in the world!
How does it compare to Prophet-V? I've watched some of the online videos and it would appear the Arturia version blows it out of the water?
What does anyone else think - I've never used any of the V-collection.

You can take a look of the general set up of the particular patch , re create in the p5 and then modify it. The prophet V is a killer synth. The patches out there are not as good as the ones they created for the Pro53 but is actually a better synth.
The MiniMg and CS80 are just unbelievable. On both of those make sure you have a real amplifier. I used to think they were good soft synths but when I put a really big amplifier, there were parts of the sound that came to life!

I have the arturia Prophet quite new , the pro53 for several years. My suggestion (not yet testet, but of great interest):
Both manufacturer say that they are compatible with the original hardware synth. So it should be possible - by sysex export >< import to transfer the sounds of both worlds to each other. Good idea ?

It would be possible to program a sound from one into the other manually, but what a pain. I'm not sure which patches in Pro-53 weren't factory presets, but that initial patch is still one of my favorites. Since Pro-53 was dropped (I think because it was programmed for Mac using Carbon) I may only be able to bring it up in 10.58 or in Windows.

There is a patch at this NI page http://co.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=freeupdates#Utilities (http://co.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=freeupdates#Utilities)
Look in the Utilities section for Mac OSX 10.5 and 10.6 installer patch. Run that on the Pro53 installer and then run the updated Pro53 installer and you can use Pro53 in any version of OSX up until at least 10.8.3. I use it quite regular in Pro Tools 10.3.6 as well as standalone. Also if you have the old B4II Hammond from NI this patch will make that come back to use as well.
