Title: Problem adding encoders to Ableton Racks, knobs, etc
Post by: sRock on August 01, 2013, 11:51:31 pm
Hi, just got the MiniLab and I wanna start by thanking you guys for creating such an effective and aesthetically pleasing controller for such a good price.  You guys really did an awesome job with this!

With that being said, I've encountered a problem:  When trying to map the encoders to knobs and sliders in Ableton (version 9.0.5), it doesn't work.  While I'll assign them properly and they are receptive as far as assigning them to MIDI w/Ableton, the knob in Ableton just shakes back and forth rapidly and doesn't really go anywhere.  Same goes for when I map an encoder to a volume slider.. when I turn the corresponding knob on the MiniLab, the slider just shakes like it's confused.

Is this a known problem?  If so, is there a workaround?  And tips, help, etc would be GREATLY appreciated.

Best Regards,

Steve

****Running the most current OS on Mac btw (10.8.4 I believe?).

the same problem. But ableton 8 and reason5. when i map the knob it responses but when i turn it the knobs in ableton or reason just go to middle position and go sliiiiightly up and down, no matter how quick I turn. Where I went wrong? that's not what i desire at all))

Do you still have a problem with this firmware:

Thanks for your comments

hey !

actually the problem for me is that the upgrade firmware procedure doesn't work...i've really followed carefully the steps, waited for more than the advised 5 seconds just in case, but when i try to load the new firmwre .bin file, a pop-up says "keyboard not detected." please try again etc.
 any idea why ?

thanks !

normanbambi@gmail.com: Just to make sure, are you using the latest firmware:
==> http://downloads.arturia.com/downloads/support/MiniLab_firmware_Update_2.1.0.2.rar
With the latest Midi control center:
==> http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/products/MiniLab/resources.html

In fact they are working together, if you flash the latest firmware with an older version of the MCC you will have this kind of issues.

Let me know

hey,

thanks for your answer.
it still doesn't work.
I have this version of MCC:
Mac    Midi Control Center (Initial) 5 Mo 1.0.0  2013-04-26
this is the latest I can find via the link you gave me, but it's the one I had before.

Currently my keyboard firmware is 2.0.0.0 and I can't update it to MINIlab_firmware_2.1.0.1.bin or to MINIlab_firmware_2.1.0.2.bin

Ok I see,

could you try this with another usb cable or another computer?
Otherwise, this article talk about connections issues on Mac and PC:

okay ! it worked with another computer ;)
so: didn't work with MacBook Pro, but did work with older iMac

otherwise the firmware 2.1.0.2 solves the knob problem, with Live 9

thanks !
