Title: Arturia MiniBrute Videos & Forums
Post by: Koshdukai on January 31, 2012, 11:02:55 pm
Well... as a kid, when I lusted over things I couldn't have (usually synths, computers), the best thing I had was magazine reviews and/or brand catalog pictures and spec lists.

If I was lucky, photocopies of the manuals (I think I was 100% prepared to program a Casio CZ-101 if given one, at that time... as an example) :D

Anyway... still today, I have this habit of devouring the User/Tech Manual .pdf's if unable to get the demo of some synths... and/or see every video I can (since usually I'm unable to check the synths in person).

Having said that, I guess you'll understand this playlist better now, about the MiniBrute ;)

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL92CE62EF979B3DFD

So... if you find any new videos that show off (and allow others to decide if MiniBrute is for them) be my guest and please post them here :)

Thanks!

Thanks for the playlist. Getting kinda hard to dig up new demos... all the NAMM stuff is sorta the same thing over and over again. That solo during that NODE video is gorgeous and a new sound from the minibrute!

Yeah, the little lead sound segment is really beautiful and shows off one poorly shown side of MiniBrute. I'm glad they shared that little video :)

The NAMM videos can be a bit tiresome to watch after a while but I was able to get some new info tidbits and new audio demos here and there on some that aren't mentioned or shown on most and that was the main reason I kept all of them in that playlist.

Now I'm interested to find more non-NAMM, "in-the-field" demos/videos, like that NODE one, because different users will use MiniBrute differently and show-off different audio angles of it (one hopes) :)

Hi, you could add this video too:

http://www.musikmachen.de/Messe-News/NAMM-Show-2012/Arturia-Minibrute

Those who don't speak german can skip the intro and jump to 2:25 where the audio starts. Especially the bass and lead sounds starting at 3:50 are different from the NAMM videos.

There is also an article about MiniBrute at a german website including an nice audio demo.

Very nice and unique demos here. So much fun. The review looks incredibly in depth and well laid out, but I can't read French. I'll be playing with Babelfish tonight I suppose!

For my 1.000th post on this forum, let me add my little grain of salt...  :)

By late February'12, a music instruments shop in Lyon/France had organized a meeting for analog synths & modular systems enthusiasts.
The great Yves Usson was presenting his own modules, as well as a compact MOS-LAB system, and also presented the MiniBrute and told the story behind its birth.

The presentation was nothing corporate/professional, rather a confidential synth folks meeting with beers and peanuts, so it is often noisy, weirdly filmed and cut, and we do not expect a "Best Company Movie Of The Year" award for that; anyway we can hear the baby crying, and see faces of Yves, François (who has done a nice amount of electronics job on the beast), and I your humble servant.

Huge thanks to synth-activists Olivier at CEM3374.com (http://cem3374.com/) and Pascal at Comeback Music (Lyon) (http://www.comebackmusic.com) for organizing such happy event, and Scopy (http://scopy.fr) for all the technical stuff. You guys rule.

The video can be seen at the bottom of the MiniBrute page on the Comebackmusic website (http://www.comebackmusic.com/minibrute-arturia,fr,4,OARMINIBRUTE.cfm).
For French-language lovers only! ;)

Yeah, this soundcloud demo from Arturia shows how YouTube videos and floor demos can be deceiving: http://soundcloud.com/arturia-official/minibrute-majestic-overture

Also, I keep adding videos to the YouTube playlist I referenced (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL92CE62EF979B3DFD) in the 1st post of this thread.

These last ones from Marc Doty aka Automatic Gainsay are interesting and fun to watch:

Cool! :)

Added to my (long) Minibrute playlist
...as I did with the last AutomaticGainsay video :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuPUFGEe9jk

Edit: hmmm... just noticed that Marc Doty (@3:28) wasn't able to demo the Arp swing properly. (http://youtu.be/xuPUFGEe9jk?t=3m48s) Weird. Either there's something with that unit or he forgot something that wasn't allowing Swing to work even though we see him clearly trying to find out why it isn't working.

Marc had a pre-production unit, therefore it was not quite fully calibrated and the firmware was not the production firmware (actually, there is already a firmware update since production). Unfortunately, that means the Arpeggiator was not finished on this unit.

ah ok, yeah I imagined that could be it, since I've seen the Arp Swing work on other videos, but I just had to ask :)

Thanks!

Those last three are actually by me, so thanks! I mostly just put them up to as a favor for a friend, but I'm happy someone else enjoyed them. I'll probably do a proper demo song or two (without the bad camera-mic sound), but it'll take me a little while to transfer it to the computer since I usually record to tape.
