: Newbie question: connections, how to make them...?
: Hakon September 15, 2012, 03:19:08
Hi

I am a newbie to the Origin, but by no means to synthesis or computer programming.

I am trying to make a "synth" but I repeatedly run into the problem of mapping output of, say, a filter, into, say, a mixer....I am following the (ehemm...somewhat sketchy) user manual's instructions, but more often than not, the options I get when Adding A connections do not match what the manual says....and more often than not I dont have a meaningful route for a connection available to me.

Before asking specific questions: is there a better documentation of this procedure anywhere, short of reverse engineering existing patches? Part of the problem MAY be that the manual for for Rel1.2.smth wheras I have upgraded to Rel1.4

regards
Håkon

I found this "make a patch" video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z46iTzceCsk

There is also quite a good step-by-step description of creating a new patch (including mixer) here (but no pictures to illustrate the steps): http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun09/articles/arturiaorigin.htm

You could start with having Origin create a simple program for you (New->Simple Program or New->Basic Synth) and look at the connections.

The patch creation hasn't really changed from v1.2 but I do agree it would be nice to have an updated manual for 1.4. For now there is a Release Notes doc in the 1.4 update folder which you can get here http://www.arturia.com/downloads/origin/release/OriginUpdate_1_4_0.zip
