Playing live with Spark, more than 4 Songs...
« on: February 14, 2013, 11:29:12 pm »
Hey there,

there are 4 Songs in Spark with 16 Patterns.
But when i doing a live gig for about 2 hours i would need about
8 to 10 "Songs"...

When i want to start a new pattern i have to load it. Therefor the Spark Sequencer Stops.
My problem here is that i only can start spark when its running as a slave when i stop and restart my
sequencer / Octatrack...
At a lifegig this is not really an option!

So how do i change between more than 4 songs / Projects?

Hi,
Please let me rephrase your problem to see if I understand well.
You are using Spark as slave and Octatrack as master.
After you have played all the pattern of a Spark project, you want to load a new Spark project.
So you stop Spark sequencer, load the project then restart Spark sequencer and then you loose sync.

Am I right?

Midimatik are you using spark as stand alone or a plugin in another host?

I'm using Spark in stand alone Mode.

I dont want to stop the spark sequencer. For a Gig
I Need more than 4 different drumkits. Thats the
Biggest Problem. So when i Play a 2 or 3 hours Gig
For me Its Not enough to have 4 different Songs with
16 Patterns per Song. I dont want to Turn on
The songmode, in my Workflow i Switch Patterns Manualy.

This is very difficult to explain for me. I Hope you can
Understand what i want...
On machinedrum for Exempel i can Switch between 16 Banks a 16 pattern.
4 Banks a 16 Pattern is a Little Less for me...

So is there a Way to work with (lets say) 8 drumkits a 16 Patterns?

Hi midimatik,
each project contains 1 drumkit (16 instruments) and 16x4 patterns.
You can switch from one project to another but during the loading time you will have some audio drop out.
So from my point of view the best workflow would be to stop the sequencer, so for one moment you have only the sound of your octatrack, then load the new project and press the play button.

Hope this helps.

Ok, this is how i expected that it works... But it should be possible to do it like this.

More than 4 Instruments would be very nice, maybee this is somethig for 2.0...

Thank you for your reply!
