pulse waveform doesn't seem right?
« on: March 07, 2013, 01:48:01 pm »
Hi there!
Just bought me a MinBrute, and I love how it sounds, and the simple, intuitive hands-on approach for making sounds.

However: I have two problems.
When I turn the pulse width knob at 50%, I would expect to hear a perfect pulse wave like the one heard in the suboscillator. However, it doesn't and sounds something like a 55-45 % or so...
Is there something wrong with my machine, or is this the way it's supposed to sound?
If possible, how can i get this fixed?  ???

Another small oddity I encountered: the bend range (for the bending wheel) is supposed to go up to 12 steps. However, on my machine it's limited to only 11 steps. How can this be fixed?

Can you please help me?

There's good news: I have found the problem. It was no big defect or electronic fault or something like that.

I just discovered that the knobs for "Bend Range" and "Pulse Width" on my MiniBrute were somewhat mechanically stuck in a way that they couldn't reach their maximum (BR) and minimum (PW) positions!!
(in the first case: the bendrange went only to 11, instead of going to 12. same for the pulse width, but vice versa)
So: I have put a tiny bit more force on this knobs, and now they're not stuck anymore and they can be turned smoothly to reach all desired positions without any problem!

Both problems are entirely solved.

that's a bit disconcerting that you had to force it like that, but hey, it works.   :P

Also, the pulsewidth knob, the center 50% point is actually a bit above the lowest (leftmost) setting, that's normal.  I.e. it actually ranges from like 45%-90%, instead of 50%-90%.

I've got the same thing:
Pulsewidth is less than 50% when i turn pw knob completely to the left.
A 50%:pulsewave is obtained by putting the knob between 2 and 3 on the knob.

Yes, pulse wodth go from 45 % to 90 5 on the Minibrute. Yves Usson and Bruno Pillet have conformed that.
