master volume issue?
« on: May 25, 2013, 04:07:11 pm »
Hi,

when I connect my Minibrute Master Out to my mixer (a Behringer Xenyx 1002) I have some problems, or at least I do not understand what is happening.

I turn the Master Volume knob from zero till the third tick, the volume does increase, but after the third tick the volume decreases and eventually mutes; I keep turning, silence, then more or less at the 11th tick last the sound comes back and it increases as I turn the knob. So, for instance, at the 8th tick the output is silence.
This happens regardless of the knobs on the mixer.

Why is it that?

Thanks

It may be an impedance problem, I had similar erratic behaviour from running my MB through a Mackie VLZ. Check the channel you're using on the xenyx is set to line level ie. no pre-gain (i think it's a button marked "-10 +4" something like that), otherwise the output from the MB might be overloading the mixer, which can cause the volume dropouts you described.
