I have the minibrute's power supply, my laptop charger and a lamp coming out of the same bank of plugs. Is that what you mean?

yes exactly.  if you remove the power supply out of the bank of plugs, do you still hear noise?

I decided to send my Minibrute back for a replacement one. Luckily I had a 30 day money-back or exchange option. Thanks for all the help anyway. Hopefully the problem won't be there on my new model when it arrives.

hey man - I've been doing a little more research on this issue so as to not cause a shock hazard with some dubious cable hack.

check out this dude's video review - http://www.amazon.com/Ebtech-Hum-Voltage-Filter/product-reviews/B0002E4YI8/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 - I think it might be what we've been looking for.  the other option to this is an AC isolation transformer, which would be a lot more expensive, but a more 'robust' solution as well

I think I'm going to pick up the hum-x and see how it works out
