KEYLAB WITH REASON
« on: January 02, 2014, 02:30:26 pm »
Hi all !

Here is a very useful codec to use your Keylab with Reason.
==> Reason with a keylab <==

Reason allows you vast control over the software using their REASON REMOTE protocol.
To access these features you will need to configure your Keylab and install the
Reason codecs. Once you have loaded the correct preset into your Keylab, and
installed the Reason codecs, you will have access to transports, loop, metronome on/off, count
in on/off, track and preset selection and some level of control for most devices within Reason.

Enjoy !

All installed and working great, although it took some time due to the fact that my Keylab61 isn't working properly with my iMac and OS X10.9 :(

Finally got the iMac to see the Keylab and installed the maps. Works great! Thank you :)

Hi, I just got KeyLab 61.  I was unable to accomplish this in the MIDI Control Center.  Several of the buttons are greyed out and unclickable.  I did all the firmware updates and installations and etc.  I can use it in Reason as a general midi controller but no special mapping.

I can load the Reason map into the MCC but the following are not clickable:

Synch button is not clickable

Nothing in the Memories window is clickable.  I cannot store, recall or anything.  I cannot store the Reason map into it the way the instructions say.

I did the firmware update but it still says "Firmware Revision: Unknown".

Did I just waste a bunch of money?

Reason 7 + Win 8 here.

Hi dallasbear,

The Midi Control Center version you have is not compatible with windows 8.
We are working on it and this version should be ok now :
https://5.135.188.26/owncloud/public.php?service=files&t=405ed565dea29a642251ea8a63687de7

tell if it's better with this one

Hi Ben,

Any idea when an updated version of the Midi Control Centre will be available for OS X 10.9?

You can try the one i've posted just before.
It should work great on 10.9 and 8 now. The only problem we have to fix now is with the minilab. But this version should be ok with all other products.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for this. First impressions seem to indicate that the bugs have been fixed. Will give it a more rigorous test at the weekend  ;D

Sadly, I'm still having problems here. The Keylab still creates 2x ghost USB MIDI devices and is not always present when switched on. This is getting incredibly frustrating now.

Hi Mathieu,

Thanks for this. Sadly, I'm still having the same issues. I installed the new version of MCC, removed the Keylab61 and the 2 ghost USB devices it created and on the first switch on of the Keylab, it all worked fine. However, it still created those 2 ghost USB devices in the MIDI manager. And after rebooting, it failed to find the Keylab 61, with MCC reporting an error, stating that it failed to open the device.

All my other USB based controllers (Akai MPK49, Behringer UMA25S, Korg nanoPAD, Korg nanoKONTORL all hot plug with zero errors, yet Keylab can take anything up to an hour sometimes to be recognised, and then only after repeated reboots of the controller.

I am very close to returning the product as I've probably only been able to use it for a couple of hours since it arrived in December :(
