MIDI Step Sequencer
« on: September 06, 2011, 10:03:55 am »
Hi,

is it possible to use the Step Sequencer in MIDI-Mode, e.g. for as a sequncer  with a Hardware drummaschine or to map a soft-seq?

Sorry but it is not possible at the moment.
But probably in the future.

I've been thinking about Spark standalone application as main program to control other hardware or perhaps their V-synths for example. To make this happen Spark must be capable to send sequencer midi information out from its physical midi-out.

I really hope that they can make this possible in near future!

Improving Step sequencers external midi possibilities and also improving its mixer would make Spark a great tool on its own. I'd really want to see that day.

I wrote few more lines about this on my synth blog:

+ 1 to midi output from the step sequencer. The physical midi ports on Spark are getting NO love!!!

Recently I've been messing around with other V-series synths which are of course all very interesting creatures. More and more I think about it, I begin to feel that Arturia should really really think more possibilities to integrate them together with other products. Analog laboratory is step to that direction, but more for live playing and editing, if I'm right.

Because of its already functional step sequencer and very nice physical controller, IMO Spark should definitely have chance to import some V-synths to it, recording and playing synth / bass lines or FX-stuff with its step sequencer. Of course this means lot of work but I think it would be a very wise business move from Arturia. There are so many new customers to having their first Arturia product; wouldn't it be fascinating to know that you could expand your synth with Spark or vica versa: expand your brand new Spark with some special V-synth(s). Think all the live possibilities to make all this with Spark (loading songs with some special Spark, V-synth settings) and no need to mess with any DAW.

And do not of course forget the physical midi outs. Step seq should really be able to send stuff out from physical midi too.

+1 again..This was a big reason I bought this. I should have looked into it a bit closer cuz this would have been a deal breaker..And yes, let's give the midi ports something to do. they are getting NO love...

+1 from me too.
Transmitting the step sequencer to the controller's MIDI out would be incredible, but I'd LOVE to see MIDI clock transmitted in the meantime.
Is ANYTHING transmitted from the MIDI out right now?

Spark should definitely send MIDI clock out ....!

Hopefully they give us these MIDI out features as soon as possible. I can see so much potentiality yet unrealized in this product...
