« on: May 26, 2012, 12:52:31 pm »
Hi to all!
I'm new to this product! I want to tanks all of you for the forum topic, I've already read most of them!
But I can't answer at my question yet: How can I record all the midi stuff that I'm playng to the spark in vst mode, and how can I than change it in the arranger view in a second moment???
Does this change affect the plugin when I playback the song or I can only record the midi stuff???'
Sorry for my little english,
Tanks,
Mauro.

Hi Mauro,
you have to enable MIDI OUT from Pads in the preferences view. Then create a MIDI track in Live and choose Spark (plugin not the controller) as source.
I will do a tutorial screencast ASAP.

Ok the pattern and the pad that I press were recorded but what about the autonomation of the parameters? The X-Y and the knob???
Tanks for your time Kevin!

Hi Mauro,
the the knobs it should be recorded as parameter automations.
I just tried and it seems that it does not record them in Session View but it is working in Arrangement View.
I have to check what's wrong.

Kevin

btw: here is the screencast for recording the pads

After a little more try and googling it, it seems that it is an Ableton issue. It is only possible to record parameter automation in Arrangement View :(

Tanks Kevin, But there is another question: Can I record the parameter autonomation and the pad autonomation at the same time?
On the manual this is not recommended, but why???

This is possible but not very easy because you can not record pads on the same track than the parameters. And again you can not do it in Session View.

So I must arm 2 track that receiving midi from the spark right?
And what channel do I select for them?
I assume that during the playback I can't send midi to the spark from two separate channel (due to ableton limitations), so that's unuseful.
This product is so complicated!
Many many thanks Kevin, I've increased your karma!

After having recording the MIDI from pads into the second MIDI track.
You can move the result clip into Spark track, it will be merged with the parameter automation clip.
