The resources for DAWS is great, but it does not address the issues with Ableton.

At this day, the beatstep has serious problem to be sync with a daw thru USB.
I use Live9 and the way to sync is really easy, but when i want to record a beatstep sequence in a midi clip, it' s a real disaster!
I set a delay in the Live midi preferences, -60ms to start. When i stop and play Live, i have to change the delay because the beatstep is losing the sync, so this time the right delay is -80ms, sometimes more like -192ms, a real nightmare!!

It was on a macbookpro, the beatstep was the only gear plugged in usb, and nothing else, so where is the problem?
