Anyone know where I can get the orange patch cords?
« on: April 13, 2014, 01:39:37 pm »
Hello all,

I've recently purchased a MicroBrute and am loving life! Such a great piece of kit for the price, and does exactly the type of sounds I wanted!

Does anyone know where I can purchase some more of the orange patch cords that come with the MicroBrute? I can only seem to find long leads and really want some of the stubby short ones!

Many thanks in advance!

http://alexiles.com/index.html

Ad Infinitum makes Orange 1/8 cables in everything from 6" to 24" generally used for CV/Gate. I don't know if they are the same color orange, but, there are very limited manufacturers of the unbalanced 1/8" stuff, so I would guess they are the ones that came with the Microbrute.

doepfer makes 3.5mm patch cables in different lenghts.

it may also be worth having a look at tiptop's expensive, but very useful stackcables, which double as passive multiples.

you can buy either from wherever you can buy eurorack modular stuff, including places like thomann, schneidersladen, analogue haven, ...

sweetwater sells 5 packs for a reasonable price, better than any other sites that sell modular cables. if you dont mind using all black ones, you can purchase them 2 for $2.50 at your local radioshack. it doesnt get any cheaper. id also recommend buying either some stackables(though shipping is ridiculous from the only retailer selling them, they want 12 dollars per cable) and i suggest buying a 6 way splitter off of ebay and not one made by belkin.for about 8 bucks the splitter will allow you to send 5 signals from each cv out making your microbrute capable of some much more complex sounds.hopefully this post helps

Tons of retailers in the U.S. sell Tip Top stackables, as well as Ad Infinitums, as well as glow in the dark expert sleepers. All of them will work. Stackables will present a voltage droop when chaining for pitch, so, bear that in mind.

Check Detroit Modular, Control Voltage in Portland, Control in NYC, and memeantenna also in NYC.

The knockoffs are what you want since they do not come with a preattached 1/8 trs cable like the belkin one does.just buy from a reliable seller.

And once again all sites selling stackables are beyond ridiculous with their shipping prices. 12 dollars to ground ship a tiny 8 dollar cable is insane. I was lucky enough to find a guy unloading most of his studio in Canada and bought 8 of them for 24 bucks and a coupon I had covered the shipping otherwise I'd say its a waste, just buy 6 way stereo splitters and 1/8" mono cables.

Well, yes at $12.00 a cable for shipping it would get expensive.

I don't purchase one cable at a time, in pretty much any instance so it's not an issue for me.
Also, most of these sites have free shipping at over $100, so, but several cables, or, other things you need and shipping is free.

You can also buy cables from Erthenvar: http://erthenvar.com/store/

Their new IV cables work similarly to stackables but are a fair bit cheaper.
