Error: "No Soft-eLicenser can be found"

This symptom sometimes occurs when a version of the eLicenser Control Center, more recent than the one contained in the virtual instrument installer, already is installed on your machine. This is easily resolvable:

[Mac OS X]

  1. Make sure to have the latest eLicenser Conrol Center installed.
  2. Close any application, then open a Terminal window:
     Finder Applications Utilities Terminal
  3. Copy-paste this command line into the Terminal window, then press [ENTER]:
     /Library/Application\ Support/eLicenser/pos/Synsopos.app/Contents/MacOS/Synsopos -RegSeL
  4. Launch the eLicenser Control Center, check the Soft-eLicenser is well present. If so, you can go on the authorization process.
[Windows]

  1. Start a command prompt by going to Start > Programs > Accessories, right mouse click on "Command prompt" and select "run as administrator"
  2. Enter the path to Synsopos.exe into the command prompt and add the Soft-eLicenser creation option, by typing "/regsel" (without quotes) after the path. Notice the space between <path>/<filename> and the "/regsel" option. A valid command line should look like this now:
    >"C:\Program Files (x86)\eLicenser\POS\Synsopos.exe" /regsel
Type [Enter], the creation is instantaneous.
  3. Launch the eLicenser Control Center, check the Soft-eLicenser is well present. If so, you can go on the authorization process.
If still reluctant under Windows XP, please check Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced System Settings > Performance > Settings > Data Execution Prevention.

Click 'Add' and select these two programs:

  • C:\Program Files\Syncrosoft\POS\Synsopos.exe
  • C:\Program Files\eLicenser\POS\Synsopos.exe
Once this is done, you can use the above command prompt to manually create the Soft-eLicenser virtual dongle.
