Comp VCA-65 - Sidechain in your DAW

Below, you'll find instructions on how to use the Comp VCA-65 side-chain function in your favourite DAW.


sidechain_live_fet

  1. Enable the rack Sidechain function and select a sidechain source from the Audio From dropdown menu.
  2. On the compressor's advanced panel, set the sidechain source to External.
  3. Adjust the Threshold so the signal can start triggering compression.
  4. Define a Compression ratio depending on how much you want to compress your signal.


Note: The sidechain function will be available in Ableton Live 10.1.

sidechain_bitwig_fet

  1. Select a Sidechain source from the instrument rack Select sidechain input menu.
  2. On the compressor's advanced panel, set the sidechain source to External.
  3. Adjust the Threshold so the signal can start triggering compression.
  4. Define a Compression ratio depending on how much you want to compress your signal.

sidechain_cubase_fet

  1. Enable Cubase side-chain function from the side-chain icon, and open the sidechain input menu by clicking on the downwards arrow.
  2. Click the Add side-chain input button and select the source of your choice.
  3. On the compressor's advanced panel, set the sidechain source to External.
  4. Adjust the Threshold so the signal can start triggering compression.
  5. Define a Compression ratio depending on how much you want to compress your signal.

  1. Open the side-chain drop down menu and select the sidechain source of your choice.
  2. On the compressor's advanced panel, set the sidechain source to External.
  3. Adjust the Threshold so the signal can start triggering compression.
  4. Define a Compression ratio depending on how much you want to compress your signal.

sidechain_pt_fet

  1. Create a send from the sidechain source track signal to a bus.
  2. Make sure the bus volume fader is not at zero.
  3. On top of the compressor window, select the bus in the key input dropdown menu.
  4. On the compressor's advanced panel, set the sidechain source to External.
  5. Adjust the Threshold so the signal can start triggering compression.
  6. Define a Compression ratio depending on how much you want to compress your signal.

sidechain_studio_one_fet

  1. From the console, create a new send from the sidechain source track to the compressor track.
  2. Enable the Sidechain on the top of the compressor window.
  3. On the compressor's advanced panel, set the sidechain source to External.
  4. Adjust the Threshold so the signal can start triggering compression.
  5. Define a Compression ratio depending on how much you want to compress your signal.

sidechain_reason_fet

  1. From the back of the rack, connect the sidechain source output to the compressor's input Optional Audio In 3/4
  2. On the compressor's advanced panel, set the sidechain source to External.
  3. Adjust the Threshold so the signal can start triggering compression.
  4. Define a Compression ratio depending on how much you want to compress your signal.
