Customize your resource folder location

Want to know more about the Arturia Software Center resources location?
All instrument resources can now be installed/moved to a folder of your choice using the Arturia Software Center (ASC).

Choosing your own custom resource path is useful if you’re working with multiple drives or limited internal storage.

  • You are advised to use the resources you have moved to a folder on an external drive ONLY on the computer you have moved it from.

  • Because these are not shared-resources files, you should NOT use the resources on a different computer (or across different computers). Doing so may prevent the instrument from properly running.

The Resources folder defines where virtual instruments and effect files are installed, including the system files, graphic components, presets, playlists, preferences etc.

Note that when multiple instruments are installed, this folder can become large in size - especially worth considering if you’re working with a small HDD or SSD.

On the first launch, the Arturia Software Center lets you customize your Resources folder location.
To do this, use the following instructions:

  • Open the new Arturia Software Center for the first time, and click on “Next”.
  • step1
  • Select the location where you want to install the folder by clicking on “Browse”.
  • browse
  • Click on “Yes” on the validation pop-up window.
  • warning
  • Choose your desired location in the browser and click on “Open” (in this example, it’s an external SSD drive).
  • ob-xa_pan
  • A loading window will appear - please wait until the full process is done.
  • ob-xa_pan
  • Your resources are now installed in your custom folder location.

Arturia Software Center also lets you move your existing Resources folder to another location. When you select a new location, resource files will automatically move into this new folder.

To do this, use the following instructions:

  • In the Arturia Software Center, go to "Preferences".
  • asc_preferences
  • Open the "Folders" section and click on "Browse".
  • asc_preferences_folder
  • Read and acknowledge the warning message.
  • resources_warning
  • In your browser, define a new location for your Resources folder and click “Open” to initiate the transfer.
  • path
  • Wait while the files are copied, this process can take up to one hour.
/!\ During the transfer process, do not disconnect your internet connection /!\
  • transfer
  • The transfer process ends after 90%. For the final 10% of the process, Arturia Software Center will remove all files from the previous location. When doing so, the “Cancel” button will temporarily disappear to ensure that the process is completed without interruption.
  • For optimal performance, the usage of an SSD is recommended.

  • Do not disconnect your internet connection during the transfer.

  • Do not interrupt the process during the final 10% of the transfer.
/!\ If the process is interrupted during the final 10% phase:

  • The new resources path link will not be updated.
  • The unused resource files will not be deleted.

If this is the case, here is what you need to do:
  • Manually delete your former Resources repository.

    The default location is:
    • Mac: /Library/Arturia
    • Windows: ProgramData/Arturia

  • Manually update the new Resources path:

  • MAC
    • Open the terminal.
    • type: sudo ln -s “Newly_Defined_Resources_path” /Library/Arturia
    • And replace “Newly_Defined_Resources_path” with the path of the new folder you’d like to move your resources to.

    • From an elevated privilege Terminal.
    • Type: mklink /d C:\new\resources\path
    • And replace C:\new\resources\path by your new resources folder path.
