Origin is the most powerful synthesizer on the market.

As a matter of fact, it goes beyond the traditional definition of synthesizers. It is a hardware DSP system that houses several synthesizers in one machine. Some of these synths come from the past, such as the Mini, and some are totally new and innovative.

Loaded with modules extracted from the best synthesizers of all time, Origin lets you combine these modules and take advantage of combinations that have never been possible before. The result: a new type of sound accessible through an extremely intuitive interface.

Sound with an attitude

Origin sounds like nothing else on the planet.

It takes the concept of the analog modular systems of the past to a new level using cutting-edge digital technology. You can combine different modules from different systems, designing new synthesizers that have never existed. Take the oscillators from the Mini, the filters from the CS-80 and the Bode shifter from the modular synth designed by Bob Moog to create your own synth. Origin is based on TAE®, True Analog Emulation, which guarantees an extremely warm, lively and powerful sound. How can Arturia manage to do this in a standalone hardware synth? Origin uses two Analog Devices TigerSHARC® DSP processors that actually have more audio processing power than even the newest multi-core PC processors.

"I highly recommend the Origin Keyboard. It's an inspiring piece of well-designed gear at a fair price. It isn't cheap, but you get a tremendous amount of sound engine for your money. Although the Origin has lots of useful and interesting factory programs, it's one of those synthesizers obviously designed with programmers in mind. If you like to build sounds from scratch, you could spend many happy hours and years exploring and programming the Origin Keyboard. If live performance is your gig, it could very effectively take the place of half a dozen vintage keyboards onstage. I was especially impressed by the well-thought-out versatility of the ribbon controller, which may be reason enough to prefer the keyboard model over the module. "

"This is a fantastic and rewarding instrument with a sound that is unrivalled in the emulation stakes."
Future Music Magazine
"Superb analogue synth emulation. Large ribbon controller. Seemingly limitless modular combinations."

"The Origin is a unique instrument, combining modular virtual analogue synthesis derived from imitative soft synths with modern features such as splits, layers and truly multitimbral effects. It sounds excellent and, if you can afford it, you should take a close look, because there's nothing else that does quite the same thing."

"The Synth Freak's Dream Realizer. Monstrously huge sound. Lots of knobs. Interactive step sequencer. Highly patchable, quite like a modular synth. Four-part multitimbral with aux outs. Numerous modules emulate vintage synth components."
Keyboard Magazine
"Terrific, animated sounds. Generous supply of modules. Powerful modulation capabilities with flexible routing. Brilliant user interface with intuitive controls, navigation, and display. Versatile mixer options. Writing for EM, I've witnessed many evaluations of products based on whether they are evolutionary or revolutionary. With its innovative coupling of classic synthesis and contemporary musical-instrument technology and design, the Origin manages to satisfy both criteria easily. This is the first hardware synth I've wanted to buy in nearly a decade; need I say more?"
Electronic Musician
"It may have been a long time coming, but Origin is a bold first step into hardware for Arturia. Huge-sounding and accessible but with great depth, this is a tremendous synth. -MusicTech Choice Award-"
Music Tech Magazine
"It sounds fantastic and sets a new high in contemporary synth design. Put it on your shopping list."
Future Music
"The Origin has an unashamedly large, lush sound and quite unlike what you'd expect from software synths - and rightly so as this isn't a software synth. This is dedicated DSP, designed strictly for the creation of huge analogue-sounding synth patches. All the usual adjectives spring to mind: syrupy, smooth, fat, etc. In short, it sounds quite amazing, with a lot fo the "hybrid" patches screaming "Oberheim" to me. Plus, it really has a very hands-on synthesis engine thrown into the bargain- easy to program and edit, and lots of fun to use. "
Audio Technology Magazine
"It's with great pleasure that I can tell you that the Origin sounds amazing and well worth the effort that Arturia has put into programming it. It's everything you would expect and more and should keep you occupied for many years."

Perform in style

The Multi mode lets you play up to 4 synthesizers at the same time. You can layer them to create amazing sounds, split a keyboard or use Origin as a source for 4 different tracks in your sequencer. In addition, the Macro mode allows you to control the 4 synths at the same time, making Origin one single instrument. When you know that each of these synths can be as big as our modular V, you get a glimpse of the power beneath this beast.

Best of both worlds

Besides that, Origin is not a simple hardware synthesizer; it’s an integrated system offering the best of the hardware and software worlds. With several knobs and buttons, a large color display, joystick, direct access to such fine synthesizer templates as the Mini or the Jupiter-8, Origin arguably is a breakthrough in the world of digital instruments.

Analog Devices TigerSHARC®

Analog Devices TigerSHARC® processors provide the highest performance density for multiprocessing applications, with peak performance well above a billion floating-point operations per second. In everyday language, that means Origin has the ability to provide an incredibly warm and fat sound while also offering high polyphony. It is the most powerful synth on the market.

I can't tell you how many people asked us where did those particular sounds come from. When we say Arturia Origin, immediatly you can see them checking their bank account to see if they can afford it. We are very honored to have Origin with us on the road and we'll be even more excited to work with it in the studio.

What I love about the Origin is how easily I was able to integrate it into my writing process. It's a really deep synth that you can spend hours and hours experimenting with, or if you're like me and you're constantly dealing with deadlines, you can twiddle some knobs and quickly have a cool and unique patch. The sound quality is amazing, but that's expected with Arturia. And the joystick is just plain fun.

The Arturia Origin is a truly inspirational instrument! Having some of the most classic synth engines available onboard and the ability to mix and match components from each of these synths really allows me to create fresh and exciting new sounds. Plus, the amount of modulation sources and destinations allow for constantly evolving sounds that never get stale. Ribbon controller, LUV it! A wiz to program as well. Now my no#1 goto synth!

On Eminem's "Recovery" album (2010), I used Origin on the song "WTP (White Trash Party)" in the chorus doubling up Marshall's melody fairly verbatim with a lead sound that accentuated his phrasing as well as stood out in track.

I think the Arturia Origin is amazing. It's perfect for live shows as I can have multiple synth sounds on stage without the extra lap top. I love the presets and I'm very excited about incorporating it on tour.

The Arturia origin is a super powerful synthesizer that is a dream come true for me. Having grown up with the world of classic analog synthesizers and now living in the digital age, the Origin marries these worlds for me in a perfectly intuitive, great sounding hardware musical instrument. In my studio that is filled with instruments, this one stands out strongly as unique and captivating.

There are a lot of things on the Origin that I've never seen before, and the end results are sounds I've never heard before, and it's great to me. They found another great path for Arturia.

I was pleasantly shocked and amazed at how great the Origin sounds and how diverse its sound capabilities are. The Origin easily covers everything from CS, VS to ARP, and even does Digital FM noises. It is a one-stop all-in-one virtual modular synth that covers the history of vintage synths while adding capabilities that the originals lacked.

The Arturia Origin is the most pliable sound source I've ever heard. It sticks to what ever you throw it at.

Analog Factory was my first love from Arturia. Now, the Origin takes that love to the next level. It's infinitely tweak-able. Whether you are simply calling up a simple MiniMg patch or custom building a four oscillator, four filter polyphonic monster, the Origin provides you with interactive inspiration. The Origin allows you to create impossible synth combinations, all the while sounding like analog synths were meant to sound, like sweet, sweet voltage!! This is truly a modern classic. Thanks Arturia !
