Seattle-based Brittany Rogers is an artist whose creative output can be defined in many ways. Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound designer; whatever form her art might take, she’s on a mission to seamlessly blend emotive expression with technical detail.

It’s this eye for detail and creative adaptability that brought MiniFuse into her music-making flow; we went behind the scenes on an intimate acoustic performance to see her setup in action.

For a greater purpose

Like most of today’s creatives, Rogers embraces the multi-faceted nature of what she does. Writing songs simply doesn’t cut it; it’s your job to conceptualise, produce, polish, and promote your content. For Rogers, they’re all pieces of the puzzle, and all part of the fun.

I am obsessed with all the tiny details that encompass music creation. I find a lot of joy in the process, whether it be the recording, producing, mixing or mastering. Even the more challenging parts for me like marketing or video editing, I still feel excited to learn, because I know it’s for a greater overall purpose.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in music production from Berklee, Rogers settled into the Seattle scene, both performing live and contributing to various creative projects. She notes that it hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park; despite the fact that we’re well into the 21st Century, music remains a male-dominated industry. Making progress is both challenging and empowering:

Many women I know have echoed similar feelings of needing to work twice as hard to get only half of the recognition. Of course, this isn’t always the case, but it is still a reality of the music industry that I believe is starting to change for the better.

A Few States Away: the session

We were lucky enough to sit in on an intimate performance of Rogers’ track ‘A Few States Away’, recorded with MiniFuse 2. Let’s take a closer look at what the session involved:

    • Interface: MiniFuse 2
    • Microphone: Blue Bluebird SL Condenser
    • Guitar: Taylor Grand Concert
    • DAW: Ableton Live Lite
    • Plugins used: Rev PLATE-140, Delay TAPE-201, Pre 1973, Chorus JUN-6

Rogers recorded the track live using 2 inputs on her MiniFuse 2: input 1 for the vocal mic, and input 2 for the electro-acoustic guitar. With minimal plugins applied to the tracks, she was able to craft a full rich-sounding mix that captured the emotive impact of the song.

The MiniFuse allowed me to go direct-in with my guitar, mic up my vocals, and leave the recording quality up to the performance. Using Arturia plugins helped accentuate moments in the song, without losing the natural acoustic feel.

The MiniFuse 2’s flexibility ensured that it slotted right into this setup as easily as it would any other. Between its simple design, supreme sound quality, and premium software package, it’s enabled Rogers to immerse herself into projects of any size, including her exclusive MiniFuse Make Music session:

I’ve been able to create things that are more stripped down like ‘A Few States Away’ but also denser productions like ‘In My Dreams’ that I also created for Arturia.

On MiniFuse

For someone whose musical output is so diverse and ever-changing, it seems that MiniFuse couldn’t be a better fit. Hearing Rogers’ song come to life is a testament to the importance of the mission behind the MiniFuses: to make your sound happen. It’s a thrill to see them doing just that.

Partnering with Arturia has empowered me to make the music I love with equipment that is both powerful and portable - the Minifuse is a great example.

"I could not recommend this equipment more for on the go musicians - no matter what level they wish to produce at."
