A prophecy retold
The razor-sharp precision and overtone-rich sound of digital; the silky warmth and edgy crunch of analog; the flexibility and expressive creativity of software instruments; why choose one when you can have all three?
Prophet-VS V faithfully unites the crisp sound of digital oscillators with the grainy character of analog filters and VCAs, just like its legendary hardware predecessor. This is vector synthesis brought to life in software form, letting you move between hot and cold, rough and smooth, analog and digital - a hybrid relic reborn for effortless modern production.

The future was digital
At the start of the ‘80s, analog was dominating. But the introduction and gradual widespread adoption of microprocessing foreshadowed a massive change that would shape not just keyboards and synths of the future, but the very music they were designed to make.
Legendary synth designer Dave Smith and his team at Sequential Circuits had been early advocates of microprocessor technology, putting them to use in the Prophet-5 to program and store presets. By the mid-80s, single-cycle waveforms were becoming the go-to for low-memory sound generation. Smith envisioned a way in which this technology could be used to create detailed sound combinations, and in 1986, this vision became a reality with the Prophet VS.
