Where the
story starts

JANUARY 2002

Storm, precursor to Lab series

Before the Lab series, before the Brutes, before everything - there was Storm. An end-to-end music production suite for your personal computer, Storm was the solution for aspiring producers and musicians who needed to realise their ideas at home. It paved the way for creative virtual instruments - the foundation of the Lab range.

MARCH 2010

V Collection

For the first time, our groundbreaking selection of virtual instrument emulations became available in a single inspiring package that continues to evolve to this day. These coveted instruments, from the Mini V to the Prophet V, united under the V Collection banner, gave musicians and producers unprecedented access to timeless sound, setting the standard for iconic instrument software recreations.

NOVEMBER 2010

Analog Laboratory

An all-in-one softsynth solution, Analog Laboratory was built to cater to the needs of the modern producer - the need for instant access to classic sounds. With 3500 iconic synthesizer sounds built-in, and the ability to accurately adjust parameters, it became a go-to softsynth toolkit, eventually evolving into 2016’s Analog Lab

JANUARY 2013

Minilab

In 2013, MiniLab answered the call for a tactile, hands-on way of controlling our synth emulations, as well as DAW projects. With enough knobs, pads, and keys for any session or performance, and a slim, portable form-factor, MiniLab was an instant hit. It’s acclaimed successor, MiniLab MkII, was released in 2016. Plug-and-play integration, along with included software like Analog Lab Lite, made it an industry favorite.

MAY 2016

Analog Lab

An evolution of its Laboratory predecessor, Analog Lab introduced thousands of new presets from V Collection’s expanded collection of legendary synth emulations. With simple controls, seamless Lab hardware integration, and an instant-access library, Analog Lab raised the bar for softsynth workflow, constantly evolving with more sounds and features to meet modern producers’ needs.

APRIL 2017

KeyLab Essential series

The KeyLab Essentials expanded the well-established KeyLab line-up, originally unveiled in 2013. With 49, 61 and 88-key versions, they offered a streamlined music-making experience that went far beyond a simple MIDI keyboard - but with an affordable price tag. An array of useful controls, along with seamless Analog Lab and DAW compatibility, made professional recording and performance more accessible than ever before.

SEPTEMBER 2018

KeyLab MkII

Expanding the established KeyLab formula in every direction, the KeyLab MkII range marked new levels of expression and control for musicians and producers. With enhanced interfaces, deeper software integration, and supreme connectivity including CV, the KeyLab MkIIs offered ultimate control over every aspect of your musical setup.

Magnetic Mag

On Pigments

"Something about Pigments unlocked a childlike joy inside of me that I have never felt before (...) I’ve genuinely never felt that way while sound designing."

MusicTech

On Pigments

"Pigments is a veritable chameleon of an instrument – it’s an analogue monster, a digital dream, a sampling powerhouse, and now a physical modelling marvel."

Sound On Sound

On Synthx V

"There’s a smoothness to the sound of Synthx V that makes it possible to close your eyes and think ‘synthesizer’ rather than ‘plug‑in’"

Gearnews

On KeyLab 88 mk3

"Looking at just the keybed alone, the KeyLab 88 mk3 is one of the finest I’ve played. It strikes a near-perfect balance that will work well across a broad range of instruments and playing styles."

Create Digital Music

On Pure LoFi

"It’s the best stress relieving instrument Arturia has made yet."

Gearnews

On Jup-8000 V

"Arturia’s JUP-8000 V absolutely nails the sound of the original hardware.Honestly, the JUP-8000 V is a time machine. The look, feel and sound instantly transport you back to those heady days of euphoria and chemical-fuelled hedonism. "

MusicTech

On V Collection 11 Pro

"Arturia has not only created an enormous library of virtual instruments boasting top-tier quality, it has made navigating it so marvellously easy that after a while, I’d almost forgotten about my DAW’s other software instruments entirely."

WeRaveYou

On Pigments

"Pigment 6’s versatility and ease of use make it a no-brainer when choosing which new software synth to try out."

Computer Music

On Modular V

"This is truly a no-compromise, no ifs, ands or buts. It's also an absolutely rock solid application. All of our little complaints aside, the boys at Arturia have achieved a milestone here. This simply doesn't sound like software!"

Mac Addict

On Modular V

"One of the most daunting monsters of analog synthesizers, the venerable Mg Modular, has been brought to glorious life in Arturia Software's stunning Modular V. This one of the best-sounding software emulations of a piece of hardware."

Mac Format

On Modular V

"The Arturia Modular V is the most authentic analog synth emulation we have ever heard. It looks and sounds just like the real thing. [Editor's Choice]"

Remix

On Modular V

"The Modular V is a powerhouse that models the old hardware to a tee, producing rich and beautiful tones that compare favorably to a real Mg system. If you're looking for a top-quality software synth that really does sound like the analog hardware it claims to emulate, look no further than Arturia's Modular V. This powerful tool is good enough for Bob Moog, and I'll wager it's good enough for you, too."

Future Music

On Modular V

"Arturia bring an unobtainable synth to the masses. It's powerful, easy to use and totally addictive. (Platinum Award)"

MusicTech

On Modular V

"The Modular V offers the sounds and programmability of the original, plus the powerful extras of modern technology such as MIDI, presets and polyphony. Outstanding!"

Raveline

On Modular V

"The Modular V sounds noble, warm and full of pressure like no other synthesizer available on the market."

Mac Format

On Mini V

"A stunningly realistic recreation of the legendary MiniMg synth. Every electronic musician should have one!"

Electronic Musician

On Mini V

"Arturia, a company that made a name for itself with Modular V and CS-80V, is the first company to produce an accurately detailed MiniMg emulation that runs native, without the need for additional hardware."

Remix

On CS-80 V

"In terms of sound quality, the CS-80V is absolutely divine. It's a first-rate-analog-style synthesizer with a wealth of detuning and modulation possibilities that allow you to cook up truly retro sounds-if that's what you're looking for. On the other hand, thanks to the sequencer, stereo delay and multitimbral aspects of the instrument, the CS-80V can sound as up-to-date as your programming chops will allow. The filters have plenty of bite - so much so that you have to watch for clipping. And I particularly like the implementation of the ring modulator, suboscillator and Touch Response features, which enable you to add weird little subtleties to a sound."

Recording

On Modular V

"The Modular V software is an absolute bargain piece of software, especially in light of the ultra-high prices of the real hardware [...]. Its great audio quality, flexible patching and interesting performance options are bringing a new level to audio."

Electronic Musician

On Modular V

"Endorsed by Bob Moog himself, Modular V probably comes as close as any software to re-creating complex analog synthesizer hardware, and it does it on a large scale. It runs standalone or as a plug-in for a variety of formats."

Mac Format

On CS-80 V

"Overall, the CS-80V is a wonderful sounding synth, capable of producing warm analogue sounds, from fat basses and leads to complex, organic sounding textures that would be ideal for atmospheric film music. It costs a fraction of Yamaha's original."

Future Music

On CS-80 V

"So just how close has Arturia got to emulating such a classic monster? I think they've done a superb job with just the right balance between faithful re-creation and modern elaboration. [...] The CS-80V is a phenomenal machine."

MusicTech

On CS-80 V

"Aesthetics and programming considerations aside, there's no doubt that the CS-80V captures the classic analogue sound of the original instrument. The additional features Arturia has added stands the virtual instrument well above the original hardware version. Arturia has taken all the good bits, enhanced them, and created a classy, high-quality synth with great appeal to those with an interest in analogue synthesizers."

Keyboard US

On CS-80 V

"The CS-80V is a killer soft synth. It's been over 25 years since the CS-80's introduction, and it remains a sought-after powerhouse to this day."

Computer Music

On Mini V

"The MiniMg is one of the most desirable and sought-after classic synths [...] the Mini V largely impressed us. It sounds great (if not quite Mg-great), has an excellent sound library and, once you learn what the badly-labelled knobs on the portly interface do, is easy and satisfying to program."

Technology
Anatomy of the Lab

The technology that sets the Lab range apart, setting the standard for musical hardware and software.

  • TAE® : True Analog Emulation allows our software instruments to reproduce classic instrument sounds with unparalleled accuracy, from the raw power of analog oscillators to the detailed soft-clipping behavior of classic circuitry.
  • Phi® : We calculated and engineered the vibrations and harmonic detail of physical resonance, from piano strings to acoustic ambience, for expressive and accurate software instruments without a single sample.
  • DAW integration : The Lab controllers feature multiple usage modes, engineered in detail to fit right into your creative flow. This lets you control software instruments, DAW projects, or perform freely - it\'s like having multiple controllers in one.
